Answer Varenka's Request for Potatoes

To unlock A Heart of Gold in Potato Please, send potatoes to the people of Varenka when they request help, following the route described by Steam players. Put loose potatoes inside their designated crate, then hold E on the loaded crate to dispatch it.

02

Find the Villagers' Assistance Crate

Watch for the message from Varenka asking for potatoes. A Steam player guide places the assistance crate behind the potato pile near the crane after the warm-up objectives. Use the request and the crate's note to identify the donation task in your save before interacting with it.

03

Fill the Crate Before Sending It

  1. Read Varenka's potato request so you know which delivery you are preparing.
  2. Locate the designated assistance crate behind the potato pile near the crane.
  3. Place loose potatoes inside the crate to load the donation; keep them out of transport sacks.
  4. Inspect the contents before dispatching so you do not accidentally send an empty crate.
  5. Hold E on the loaded villager crate to send the potatoes to the villagers.
  6. Check your Steam achievements after the donation to see whether A Heart of Gold has unlocked in your save.

Fix the Interaction That Makes a Sack

Golden Horn Studios confirmed that Hotfix 1.0.2 fixes holding E on a loaded villager crate: the interaction sends the crate instead of packaging its potatoes. If holding E creates a sack in your game, make sure the update is installed before retrying. The developer specifically asks players to report the problem if it continues after updating.

Players also described aiming at the note attached to the crate when the packaging interaction got in the way. Use that as a targeting tip and check what you are pointing at before holding the button. The developer-confirmed behavior is that holding E on a loaded villager crate dispatches it.

05

Avoid Sending an Empty Crate

A player reported holding E because they expected the empty crate to move somewhere else for loading, only to send it away empty. Treat the hold interaction as dispatch and load the potatoes first. Before sending, take a moment to check the crate rather than assuming the interaction will prepare it for you.

06

Keep the Donation Separate From Other Tasks

The player-reported A Heart of Gold route is the villagers' potato donation. If you have finished preparing carrots and cucumbers and are still waiting for this achievement, return your attention to the village request. Feeding the puppy belongs to the separate Good Boy achievement.

Set aside the requested supplies with your equipment spending in mind. Donation guidance notes that missing stock can be deducted from wages. Check your available potatoes and money before committing the shipment, then verify the achievement after the crate has been sent.
